Research and Innovation
From Research to Recovery
translating phage innovation into patient care
We look forward to contributing to the following key focal area:
- Case-by-case / compassionate use platforms:
Operating compassionate use programs (for patients with no alternatives) to gather real-world experience and data.
- Personalized phage development & matching:
Building extensive phage libraries and rapid screening pipelines to match phages to patient bacterial isolates.
- Clinical trial design & regulatory pathways:
Conducting phased trials (Phase I, II) and working with regulatory agencies to validate safety, efficacy, dosing, and quality control in India.
- Combination therapies & synergistic strategies:
Testing phage + antibiotic regimens, adjuvants (biofilm disruptors, depolymerases), and engineered phages for better payload delivery.
- Pharmacokinetics, safety & immunogenicity:
Studying how phages distribute, persist, and interact with the human immune system, and minimizing neutralizing antibodies.
Harnessing Phages to Clean & Protect Our Environment
Our environmental R&D supports One-Health goals
- Bioremediation & wastewater treatment:
Deploying phage cocktails to selectively reduce bacterial loads and disrupt biofilms in wastewater, effluents, and water distribution systems.
- Soil & crop pathogen management:
Using phages to control bacterial plant diseases (e.g. Pseudomonas syringae, Xanthomonas, Ralstonia) without collateral damage to beneficial soil microbiota.
- Industrial infrastructure protection:
Applying phages against microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) or contamination in biofuel, petrochemical, and fermentation facilities.
- Phage formulation & stability engineering:
Developing formulations resilient to UV, temperature, pH, and storage in environmental matrices.
- Regulatory & scale-up challenges:
Addressing gaps in regulatory frameworks, GMP manufacturing for environmental release, and environmental risk assessment.
Phage Interventions for Animal Welfare & Food Safety
Our veterinary R&D spans:
- Prophylactic / preventive phage applications:
Using phages as preventive agents (e.g. in feed, water) to suppress pathogen colonization before disease onset.
- Integration with One-Health frameworks:
Evaluating how animal phage use affects bacterial ecology and resistance spillover to humans.
